Brief description: There is no image more closely associated with Azerbaijan than Baku's famous Maiden Tower, historical monument of the12th century. This ancient tower is the birthplace of Baku and the city's symbolic soul and spirit, the centre of its origin and being from where layers of history are built in architectural circles out toward the city's environs and beyond. All who come to Azerbaijan are drawn to this large magnet on the Caspian seashore. Nestled along a cobblestone-covered street adjoining the Maiden Tower is where the "Qız Qalası" Art Gallery located. "Qız Qalası", a private art gallery, was established on 19th March 1999 by Mr. Salkhab Mammadov, Professor of Azerbaijan Academy of Arts and University of Arts, Honoured Artist of Azerbaijan, and his son, Mr. Emin Mammadov, an artist-graphic. People visiting "Qız Qalası" Art Gallery get a good opportunity to follow the development of Azerbaijan Arts in the 20th century. All generations of artists are presented here.
